Solar Battery Storage

Commercial and residential solar battery to store excess solar power and reduce demand charges.

Solar battery is an increasingly popular add-on option for our solar customers in the commercial and residential sectors. The storage option helps our customers store the excess solar power generated during the day, to be used at nighttime or during a black-out. Solar battery also helps to offset electricity demand charges. Quality Energy has solar battery storage options to suit your commercial or household needs, offering a range of solar battery sizes from reputable, leading brands.

What is Solar Battery?

Solar battery stores energy generated from a photovoltaic (PV) system, allowing for the use of energy stored during the day to be used at night, or in the case of a blackout. The battery stores the energy in the form of direct current (DC) and converts it to alternating current (AC) as needed for use in the home or business premise. Solar batteries work in conjunction with inverters, which control the flow of energy from the battery to the home's electrical system, and charge controllers, which regulate energy flow from the PV system to the battery.

Benefits of Solar Battery

Solar batteries, when paired with a highly efficient solar PV system, can have many benefits for your business and household:

Energy independence

Energy cost savings

Backup power option

Reduced electricity demand

Improved energy management

Solar battery is not a one-size-fits-all approach. Things to look out for when picking a solar battery include black-out protection, load balancing and end-of-life recycling.

FAQs about Solar Battery

There are many questions about solar batteries and how solar batteries help your business and household maximise your solar PV investment. Here, you can find the most common questions we get. Quality Energy is here to answer your queries about solar battery storage. If your question is not listed below, please do not hesitate to contact our team, and we would be happy to assist.

  • How does a solar battery work?

Solar batteries store the excess energy generated by a photovoltaic (PV) system, allowing you to use the stored energy when the sun is not shining. Here's how it works:

    1. Energy Generation: Solar panels convert sunlight into direct current (DC) electricity.
    2. Energy Conversion: An inverter converts DC electricity into alternating current (AC) electricity.
    3. Energy Storage: The excess AC electricity generated by the solar panels is stored in the battery for later use.
    4. Energy Usage: When the solar panels are not generating enough energy, the stored energy in the battery can be used to power your business or home.
    5. Energy Management: A charge controller regulates the flow of energy from the solar panels to the battery, ensuring that the battery is charged and not overcharged. An inverter also manages the flow of energy from the battery to your home's electrical system, ensuring that the stored energy is used efficiently.

Solar batteries can be either standalone units or integrated into a complete solar energy system. They are designed to be long-lasting and durable, with many models offering 10 years or more warranties.

  • Why get a solar battery?

Energy independence: A solar battery allows you to store excess energy generated by your solar panels, so you can use it even when the sun is not shining. This can reduce or eliminate your reliance on the grid, helping you become more energy-independent.

Cost savings: By storing excess energy generated during the day, you can use that energy instead of drawing from the grid during peak hours, when electricity prices are typically higher. This can result in significant cost savings on your electricity bills.

Backup power: A solar battery can provide backup power in case of an outage, ensuring that you have a reliable energy source when you need it most.

Increased self-consumption: A solar battery enables you to use more energy you generate rather than send it back to the grid. This can increase your self-consumption rate and reduce the amount of energy you need to buy from the grid.

Improved energy management: A solar battery provides greater control over the energy you generate and use, allowing you to optimise your energy usage and save money on your electricity bills.

  • How much do solar batteries cost?

The cost of a solar battery can vary based on several factors, including:

    • Battery capacity: The capacity of a solar battery determines how much energy it can store. Batteries with larger capacities tend to be more expensive than those with smaller capacities.
    • Battery type: There are several types of solar batteries available, including lithium-ion, lead-acid, and nickel-cadmium. The type of battery you choose can affect the cost.
    • Brand: The brand of the solar battery can also impact the cost. Some brands are known for their high-quality products, while others are more budget-friendly.
    • Installation costs: The cost of installing a solar battery system can vary depending on factors such as the complexity of the installation, the type of battery you choose, and the location of the installation.
    • Warranty: The length and terms of the warranty offered by the manufacturer can also affect the cost of a solar battery.
    • Incentives and subsidies: Government incentives and subsidies can also play a role in the cost of a solar battery system.

  • What size battery do I need?

Picking the right size battery is a critical aspect of solar battery storage. The size of solar battery size you require is based on factors such as:

    • your daily electricity usage
    • peak usage hours vs. peak solar generation hours.

It is important to speak to a reputable solar battery provider so they can conduct an analysis to determine the right solar battery size you need.

  • Can I get solar panels and a battery installed at the same time?

Yes. Quality Energy are the experts in delivering complete solar power solutions, including solar battery storage systems and hybrid inverters. Contact our team and mention that you’d like an all-inclusive solar power system.

  • My business operates during the day. Are there any benefits to installing solar batteries for my business?

Yes. A solar battery allows businesses to store excess energy generated by their solar panels, reducing or eliminating their reliance on the grid. This can make them more energy independent and reduce their vulnerability to energy price fluctuations. Moreover, solar battery can provide backup power in case of an outage, ensuring that businesses have a reliable energy source when they need it most. Lastly, solar energy is a clean, renewable energy source, and using a solar battery to store excess energy can reduce a business's carbon footprint and contribute to a more sustainable future.
