Ballarat, VIC

The Problem

Stage 2 of Ballarat Hospital included a new 6-storey central energy plant, support services building housing essential power, cooling, and backup systems, along with key services such as pathology and pharmacy.

To ensure the reliable continuity of services, Ballarat Hospital proactively sought power quality monitoring to identify harmonic distortion levels and address harmonic issues.

The Solution

Our team installed Fluke 1738 Power Quality Monitors on three main switchboards for a one-week period to record load profiles and identify harmonic distortion levels.

The data collected enabled our engineering team to accurately size and specify the required Active Harmonic Filter (AHF) to address the site’s specific harmonic issues.

Following the assessment, Quality Energy was engaged to design, manufacture, and install the AHF system.
