The Problem
Quality Energy provides ongoing servicing of one of our customised Power Factor Correction (PFC) systems at Forme Technologies in Carrum Downs.
Recently, new machinery was installed in another building on the site, resulting in a reduced power factor and increased energy demand.
To address this, we recommended a bespoke Quality Energy Static Var Generator (SVG) to improve power factor performance. However, during our assessment, we found that the existing main switchboard lacked the space required to install an additional circuit breaker.
The Solution
To overcome the space limitations, a specialised enclosure was installed adjacent to the switchboard, which included a new circuit breaker.
Additionally, Rogowski coils were used in lieu of standard current transformers, as the available space did not permit the use of split-core CTs.
This setup enabled the successful integration of our 50 kVAr wall-mounted Static Var Generator into the site’s electrical infrastructure.
